I don’t know what it has been like where you live, but here in Nelson it has been wet, wet, wet!
Luckily we don’t have any areas that are prone to collecting pools of water, but we do have a few ‘squelchy’ patches! As I’m sure you can imagine, that makes for great entertainment if you are 18 months old: mud and little Baxter are very firm friends.
I asked Dougal’s mum (Jay) what she would do if the weather prevented her from doing much in the garden and her advice was so practical that I thought it worth sharing with you.

Do a bit of housework in the shed (shedwork if you will).
As we move out of pruning season and into spring planting, our trusty tools would probably love a good service. Sharpening, oiling and having a good dung out will make the busy spring garden all that more enjoyable to work in.
And don’t forget the lawnmower! He may have had a slow(ish) winter, but the manic spring grass is not all that far away.
The winter harvest’s definitely yield slimmer pickings, but we did enjoy some beautiful winter broccoli this week so I thought I’d share this lovely picture of it (& my Dougal) with you.
Mark Twain is famously quoted as saying "Cauliflower is nothing but a cabbage with a college education", if that's the case, then "Our Broccoli must have a Masters", hence the satisfied look on Dougal's face.
